The UOB Rewards You Carnival isn’t a home exhibition. That’s worth saying upfront, because it shapes everything about what the experience was like and why being there turned out to be one of our better decisions of 2024.
Organised by UOB Malaysia, the carnival ran for four days at Mid Valley Exhibition Centre and brought together hundreds of brands across home, lifestyle, fashion, F&B, and more. All structured around exclusive deals and rewards for UOB customers, with the general public welcome too. All four days were fun-packed, from early birds chasing the day-one voucher offers to families spending a Saturday afternoon browsing products.
At a dedicated home exhibition, most visitors arrive already thinking about furniture. At the UOB Carnival, it was different. People came for the deals, the food, and the overall buzz of the event, many checking out what they could redeem with their bank points. Some wandered over to our solid wood display, and the conversations that followed felt genuinely different from what we usually experience at exhibitions like HOMEDEC.
Conversations with UOB customers were refreshingly direct and centred on value. They asked meaningful questions about longevity, the differences between solid wood and what they had bought before, and whether a solid wood piece was worth budgeting for. It was an eye-opening experience to gain these perspectives from our prospective clients.
We took pleasure in explaining to the lovely audience that solid wood can be resanded and refinished over time, making it an investment rather than a purchase. To put it simply, a dining table handcrafted from premium solid wood is made to last, without a use by date. It is something you can live with, grow with, and rely on for years to come.
As the saying goes, “the proof is in the pudding” the same applies for solid wood furniture, once you experience the look, feel, texture and weight, you will immediately see why every home deserves a piece that will hold all your treasured memories and be passed down to your loved ones in years to come.
The UOB Carnival reminded us that the people most likely to invest in furniture that lasts aren’t always the ones actively searching for it. Sometimes they just need to be in the same room as them.
